Soil for Raised Beds
Now that you have built your raised bed, now comes the fun part! You can have the most fantastic looking raised bed, but if you don’t use the right soil, your garden will not thrive. I am so happy to be partnering with The Home Depot, Miracle-Gro and Bonnie Plants to use this awesome new soil specifically crafted for raised beds. I used the Bonnie Plants Harvest Select Raised Bed Soil, and I was instantly impressed with the quality! I didn’t have to mix or add any products, and it was ready to use straight out of the bag. There wasn’t large sticks of woods or bark in the bag (all things I have found in other soil), and the consistency of the soil was amazing! AND it’s organic. If you are looking for the right soil for your raised beds, the Harvest Select Raised Bed Soil is definitely the way to go, and it’s only available at The Home Depot.
Planting
After filling up my raised beds, it was now time for the best part – planting my plants! If you are busy and don’t have time to start seeds, starter plants from The Home Depot are the way to go! The Home Depot and Bonnie Plants provide the best product selections such as vegetable and herb plants, as well as soil and plant food to help my garden grow successfully. I went with the Harvest Select starter plants because they were in excellent condition, had so many cool varieties (hello candy cane sweet red peppers and chocolate sprinkle tomatoes), and really give my garden a head start to growing. Harvest Select plants are exclusive to The Home Depot, not available anywhere else.
Feeding and Fertilizing Your Plants
Don’t forget this step! So many people forget to feed after they plant their plants, and its so crucial. Feeding helps to promote healthy plant growth and helps to produce more blooms and foliage. I have used Miracle Go Plant and Feed to fertilize my plants in the past, so of course I had to use it for my new raised bed garden! I love this fertilizer because it feeds for three months, and I don’t have to fertilize again until the season changes. I just love how Miracle-Gro makes it so simple and easy to use!
Now, what?
And just like that, my raised bed garden is done! I can now sit back and watch my plants grow! Who am I kidding? There is no sitting back – I will be stalking the garden day and night waiting for any all signs of new growth.
